How it works

1

Drop a video or audio file in. WavyVid analyzes the audio for pauses right in your browser.

2

Adjust the sensitivity and minimum pause length with a live preview — see exactly what gets cut before committing to anything.

3

Export once you're happy with the preview. Nothing is cut until you confirm.

When you'd use this

  • You filmed an interview and want the awkward pauses trimmed while keeping the conversation's natural flow.
  • You recorded a talking-head video for a course or tutorial and want a cleaner pace without sounding rushed.
  • You want a conservative default that won't over-trim, then plan to fine-tune sensitivity as needed.

Frequently asked questions

Will this make my video feel choppy?

The Interview preset is deliberately conservative to avoid that — only pauses longer than about 0.7 seconds get flagged, and even those get trimmed down to a brief gap rather than removed entirely.

Can I fine-tune beyond the presets?

Yes — the sensitivity threshold and minimum pause length sliders let you dial in exactly how aggressive the cutting is, with the preview updating live as you adjust.

Does cutting pauses affect video quality?

The output is re-encoded (cutting and rejoining segments requires this), using a quality-oriented setting so the visual difference from the source is minimal.

What if my video has multiple speakers with different pacing?

The detector works on overall audio volume, not per-speaker — for content with very uneven pacing between speakers, you may want to preview carefully and adjust sensitivity accordingly.

How does the Interview preset differ from the Podcast preset?

Interview is tuned more conservatively — it only flags longer pauses, since talking-head footage generally benefits from keeping more natural breathing room than a podcast edit does.
